About KnowYourDash

KnowYourDash started with a simple frustration. A light comes on, you look it up, and you get either a one-line answer that tells you nothing or a wall of jargon written for mechanics. We wanted a place that explains dashboard warning lights the way a friend who knows cars would: in plain words, with the part you actually care about up front. How serious is it, and what should you do right now?

Every guide here covers a specific light, vehicle, or symbol. We tell you what it means, the common reasons it shows up, and the realistic next step, whether that is a two-minute check in your driveway or a call to a shop. We write for normal drivers, not technicians, though plenty of techs tell us the explanations hold up just fine.

We are independent. We are not tied to any dealership, parts brand, or repair chain, and nobody pays us to push a product. When something is usually a cheap fix, we say so. When a light means stop driving, we say that too, clearly and without the scare tactics.
